Discover the magnificent tropical forest of El Yunque in this leisurely half-day tour from San Juan. You’ll find an unspoilt world of natural wonders awaiting you. Think waterfalls, panoramic views and a network of nature trails just inviting you to explore the sub-tropical rainforest habitat of some of Puerto Rico’s many species of wildlife.
This diverse eco system covers 133km2, reaching an elevation of over 1000m at the El Toro peak. The mountain and forest were held sacred by the Taino people who believed that that the god Yuquiyu reigned at El Yunque on his mighty mountain-top throne, protecting Puerto Rico and its people. Ample rainfall, coming in very brief rainbow showers that end almost as soon as they begin, creates a jungle-like setting — lush foliage, crags, waterfalls and rivers are a prevalent sight.
After being picked up from your hotel and meeting your knowledgeable naturist guide, you’ll passing through a series of charming local settlements, as we climb through rapidly changing vistas of lush tropical vegetation en route to the El Yunque rainforest.
Discover a bewildering multitude of plant and animal life throughout the magnificent forest as you make your way to one of the stunning waterfalls for a refreshing swim. The forest has a number of trails from which the jungle-like territory's flora and fauna can be appreciated. The rainforest is home to more than 240 species of plants and wildlife, you’ll see tree orchids, giant ferns, wild flowers, tropical hardwoods and spectacular waterfalls, and see panoramic views of the entire north-east coast.
